This Flavorful Creole Seasoning is great for adding flavor to rice, meats, soups, seafood, or anything that needs a flavor boost.
The bright and bold flavors take any dish to the next level. The seasoning is quick and very easy to make and the ingredients are pretty standard spices you probably already have in your pantry. Skip the store-bought Cajun seasoning blends and make your own blend of New Orleans spice. It takes less than 10 minutes. And, with homemade creole seasoning, you also have control how much salt to add according according to your taste.
CAJUN VS CREOLE SEASONING
Is creole seasoning the same as Cajun seasoning?
Not exactly. Creole spice mix is a more rounded seasoning mix than Cajun seasoning mix. While Cajun seasoning highlights ground peppers and garlic powder, creole takes it a step further by including dried herbs like thyme, oregano, and basil.
However, everyone has their own little variations. Use this as a base recipe, but feel free to adapt to your taste.
For an “extra spicy” mix, increase the amount of cayenne pepper.
Can I use Creole seasoning interchangeably with Cajun seasoning?
Yes you can. Cajun and Creole seasonings are kissing cousins and either will work well for most recipes and dishes where you want to add a kicky punch.
How long will Creole Seasoning last?
This blend should keep for up to 3 months in a sealed container stored in a dark place.
